Breath-Body-Mind™ integrates ancient and modern trauma-informed techniques that quickly balance our stress response system to help ourselves and others. They were developed by integrative psychiatrists Richard P. Brown, MD, and Patricia Gerbarg, MD. The BBM method has proven effective for physical and mental health professionals, clients, patients, military personnel, veterans, children, and adults who have experienced mass disasters. It has been shown to enhance resilience and reduce the effects of stress.

Join Dr. Brown, Dr. Gerbarg, and other senior BBM teachers for training that will prepare you to teach these practices effectively, safely, in a trauma-informed and culturally adapted way, individually and in small groups. In this course, you will:

  • Deepen your personal BBM practice.

  • Learn advanced practices such as “Heart focused 4-4-6-2,” “Great Harmonizer,” and open focus attention training with space meditation (for personal practice).

  • Learn to teach core BBM practices for reducing stress, overcoming COVID symptoms, anxiety, PTSD, war trauma, increasing resilience to mass disasters, etc.

  • Deepen your understanding of the impact of controlled breathing practices on emotion regulation, relationships with others, and cognitive functions at the neurophysiological level.

  • Practice teaching each practice in smaller groups under the guidance of senior BBM teachers and receive valuable advice from them to improve your BBM teaching skills.

To obtain BBM Level 1 teacher certificate, you will be expected to successfully teach the following BBM practices: Self-Hug and Squeeze, Tapping, Classic “Ha,” Heart “Ha,” 4-2-4-2, 4-4-6-2, 4-4 Arm Circles, Drawing the Waterfall, Energy Ball, Two long sighs, Muscle Softening, Coherent Breathing with Breath Moving first circuit, and Bottom-Top Body Scan.

Also, to receive a certificate, it is important to attend ALL classes of this course from start to the end with your camera on, actively participate in the training, perform exercises for personal practice, and teach BBM practices in the breakout rooms. If you miss a small part of the training for valid reasons (such as power and/or internet outages), you will have the opportunity to catch up.

Students in this course are also required to attend weekly practiсe sessions and do homework.

Attention is also paid to creating a safe space, tone of voice, teaching pace, accuracy in providing scripted instructions, and trauma-informed teaching.

This training is suitable for physical and mental health professionals, coaches, therapists, yoga and meditation teachers, school and university teachers, military personnel, rescue workers, emergency medical personnel, police, firefighters, disaster relief workers, charity workers, and anyone interested in teaching BBM practices.

Prerequisite for course registration: Obtaining a certificate of completion of the BBM Fundamentals Course and attending 6 weekly BBM practice sessions. If you wish to participate but have recently completed the Fundamentals Course and do not yet have a certificate, please indicate this on the registration form.
