Shira Gordon
Shira Gordon, RN, MS, MPH, is a Senior Level IV Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) Teacher certified by Dr. Richard P. Brown and Dr. Patricia L. Gerbarg, with a background in psychiatric nursing and public health. She serves as Director of Israel Programs for the Breath-Body-Mind Foundation, where she has led the development of trauma-informed BBM programming in response to the ongoing psychological impact of war and terrorism following October 7, 2023.
Under her leadership, BBM Israel launched free online resilience and recovery programs in Hebrew and English, reaching thousands of individuals directly and through a growing network of certified BBM teachers. She has helped develop train-the-trainer programs for trauma professionals, educators, healthcare workers, and community leaders throughout Israel.
Shira has taught BBM practices in collaboration with Drs. Brown and Gerbarg at organizations including the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, the The Open Center, and Serving Those Who Serve. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she delivered online BBM programs to community organizations in New York, including Part of the Solution and the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale. She has also participated in international BBM crisis-response initiatives supporting communities affected by war, disaster, and chronic stress in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Turkey, Ukraine, and New York State.
Shira holds an MPH in Health Administration, Policy and Planning and an MS in Child Psychiatric and Community Mental Health Nursing from Columbia University, and a BS in Nursing from New York University. She is a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
