• About This Course

  This 42-hour course will take your BBM teaching skills to the next level. You will instruct candidates for BBM Level 1, while senior teachers monitor and coach you. You will learn how to plan and teach all aspects of BBM for Fundamentals Courses, Group Practice Sessions, and Level 1 Teacher Training. You will participate in the teachers’ meetings before and after each session as you become a stronger, more confident, and more versatile BBM teacher.

  Level 3 candidates may participate in more advanced practices with Dr. Brown. Those who are interested in using breathwork in psychotherapy or in research are invited to meet with Dr. Gerbarg in Clinical Seminars.

  We will work with each candidate to develop the skills needed to become leaders in developing BBM programs for their clients, communities, and areas of interest.

• Course Goals

  By the end of this program, participants will acquire the following skills:

  • Teaching BBM Level 1 teachers all the practices in Level 1: Shaking, Tapping, Hug and Squeeze, Ha Breath, 4-2-4-2 and 4-4-6-2, Painting the Waterfall, 4-4 Arm Circles with Hum, Energy Ball, Muscle Softening (Relaxation), Coherent Breathing, Breath Moving and Body Scan from the Bottom to the Top in a trauma sensitive way.

  • Teaching how to identify and correct Breathing Challenges.

  • Teaching how to sequence BBM sessions and classes for a range of populations and times.

  • Teaching Grounding Practices

  • Demonstrating how to use a soft facial expression and voice.

  • Leading Break-Out Rooms and managing time effectively.

  • Giving and receiving relevant feedback and teaching points.

• Course Prerequisites

  Prerequisites for this course include:

  • Completion of Level 2 BBM Teacher Training.

  • Regular practice of Coherent Breathing and other techniques for at least 20 min a day at least 5 days per week (preferably 7).

  • Experience teaching BBM and assisting at Fundamentals courses.
